eduVPN - OpenVPN - WireGuard?

eduVPN is based on OpenVPN [3] and since server version 3 with WireGuard with some very helpful enhancements. All systems do have their own advantages. OpenVPN's and WireGuard's greater configuration flexibility faces the eduVPN's automatic updates of client software and client configuration. eduVPN configurations are administered on the vpn server itself via a web frontend. Clientsoftware is available at [4], on managed Systems via SoftwareCenter or SelfService.

"Institute access" vs "Secure Internet"

eduVPN supports two operating modes., Institute access and secure internet.

Use Institute access! As member of one of the universities you will gain access to internal services offered by this institution. The LRZ provides this VPN-service for access to the Munich Scientific Network.

"Secure Internet" is operated by the DFN. There you have no access to thMunich Scientific Network.

eduVPN and WIFI lrz

In case you connect to the lrz WIFI, please select a Full-Tunnel profile. Connect to eduroam, iff possible. This makes things easier.
