About 2-Factor-Authentification
With Keycloak (OpenID Connect), we offer a modern authentication service with single sign-on and multi-factor security. You can now use either the federated login via Microsoft Account (@uni-a.de), a passkey or your local user name ('RZ-Kennung') with a second factor (OTP) to access our web services. On university provided (Windows) computers, a true single sign-on is possible for all supported services, if Microsoft ‘Hello for Business’ has been set up.
You can freely select your preferred login method when logging in to our services.
Login via university Microsoft account
The new login service allows users to log in to all supported services using their university Microsoft account. On university provided (Windows) computers, the login made via ‘Hello for Business’ can be used directly for convenient and password-free login.
Login via Passkey (passwordless)
Once set up, various platforms and providers can be used as a passwordless 2-factor login. On smartphones, for example, using the Google or Apple password manager (cloud) is very convenient - but local password managers such as KeePassXC or KeePassium can also be used. Dedicated (FIDO2) security keys (YubiKey, SoloKey etc.) can also be used very conveniently across platforms (keys with the contactless NFC option are particularly suitable for use on smartphones)
Login via 'RZ-Kennung'
It is also possible to log in using the 'RZ-Kennung'. Users who do not wish to use the Microsoft infrastructure to log in can use the 'RZ-Kennung' and password - together with a second factor to increase security. To set up this factor initially, a login via Microsoft Account (only once) is required, as it is already secured by two factors.
