Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis covers the conception, design and prototypical implementation of a calendar-based online communication tool for improving team collaboration and supporting hybrid learning. Addressing the challenges of team meetings and managing schedules in an academic and hybrid environment, the tool is integrated into the TUMSpirit platform, which is currently under development at the Technical University of Munich. Through a detailed literature review and a Feature Driven Development approach, the thesis identifies features to improve effective team collaboration, including event management, file sharing, and the ability to add location details to events. The tool was implemented in JavaScript using a modern MERN stack. It offers an intuitive user interface with different calendar views and milestone tracking for project schedules. Although the prototype shows how teamwork and learning effectiveness can be enhanced, this paper also points out its limitations and suggests ways for improvement, like automated planning functions and further development of other features. This work contributes to the field of digital learning systems in education, providing a foundation for further research and development in improving team collaboration in hybrid learning settings.
