Abstract

As digital design and features gain relevance in the automotive segment, there are further possibilities for immersion and improvement regarding car assistance systems. It is not common practice to continue driving practice with classes after obtaining one’s driving license. With new driving features, one must learn unknown risks and practices to make the driving experience enjoyable. This could only be done with a driving teacher on an empty road, but now, one can practice within the comfort of one’s parked car. Simulating life-risking scenarios and analyzing the user’s reaction to them is now possible. This opens a new door that lets people prepare for real-life driving dangers and learn some features of their cars that they didn’t know about before. Building a system that can enhance driving lessons or help drivers increase their driving entails creating an engaging environment that rewards adequate driving while giving room for self-improvement and new exciting information. This way, learning alone or with a co-driver is possible within this new space that allows past self-reflection and new live lesson tools. This work explores Gamification’s efficiency in teaching skillful driving while using the vehicle as a controller and analyzes the results of practicing using a co-op application.
