Upon receiving an admission letter, please log in to your TUMonline account, accept the study place, and take care of the remaining modalities for the enrollment (required documents in hard copies). The documents are listed in your account.

Semester Fees
The semester fees, which consist of the basic student union fee and the fees for the basic (public transport) semester ticket, must be transferred in time for each semester in which you wish to begin or continue your studies.
Fees are the same for EU or non-EU students.
The payment deadline
- for first-time enrollment for the winter semester Sept. 15.
- for continued enrollment for the winter semester Aug. 15.

Finding Accommodation and Living in Munich

We provide opportunities for you to meet other ITBE students from your semester and higher semesters, such as at the ITBE Welcome Event or the ITBE Info Event among others.

Tuition Fees
Starting from the WS24/25 the TUM is introducing tuition fees for international students. Semester fees must be paid independent of tuition fees.
TUM Welcome for International Students
If you are coming from abroad to start your studies at TUM in the WS23/24, you have the opportunity to participate in various events specially designed for international first-year students in September. Visa application

Once you have enrolled, you will be able to download a letter of enrollment from TUMonline as proof of enrollment. Should you require a letter of extension or a letter to confirm the language of study for the Visa application, send us an email at mscitbe@ed.tum.de with your request.
TUM-Account, E-Mail, and Student Card
TUM-Account
All students, employees, and guests of TUM receive a central computer ID called a TUM account. It consists of the TUM ID (e.g. gu27cat) and a personal password.

Please use your TUM E-Mail during your studies, in particular when contacting Chairs and other TUM institutions.
TUM Student Card
The Student Card is a multifunctional contact-free chip card containing your TUM student ID. Please note you need to validate your student card each semester at one of the validation points.
It functions as your:
- Student I.D. (with photo)
- MVV ticket
- Library card (barcode on the back)
- Student services electronic payment card (i.e. for canteen, cafeteria)
- used for payment in canteens and nearly all cafeterias and espresso bars
- used for payment at most beverage, snack, and ice cream vending machines
- used as a deposit for bottles or dishes
- used to make copies at TUM (only on the Munich Student Union copy machines)

TUMonline and Moodle
TUMonline
TUMonline is TUM's campus management software, which you already know from your application. Through TUMonline, you can manage and organize your studies at TUM.
For example, you can use TUMonline to:
- Download your student documents
- View information on tuition fee payments (tuition fee account)
- View your personal schedule and semester plan
- Register for and deregister from courses and exams
- View exam results, view and download transcripts and exam certificates
- Set up your TUM e-mail address
- Change the password for your TUM account
- View your personal calendar
- Search for a person, room, or organization at TUM
- View the degree programs offered by TUM

Moodle
Moodle is TUM's e-learning platform. Lecturers will usually provide their supporting material, such as lecture notes or task sheets via moodle.
You can log in to moodle using your TUM-Email-address and TUMonline password. Registration for courses is automatically transferred from TUMonline.

On Campus Wifi

Personal Storage
Everyone at TUM has personal cloud storage with a maximum capacity of 400GB, which is reachable via the internet or a VPN.

Off-Campus Data Access
You can access your personal storage and any TUM storage you have access rights to off-campus.
Using a VPN
The following services require a VPN:
- Access via the WLAN connections in the MWN that are managed by the LRZ
- Use of public connection points for mobile computers in the MWN
- Use of access-restricted, internal MWN services (examples: online journals of the Munich university libraries, remote update of Sophos anti-virus software) via third-party Internet providers or by inhabitants of student halls of residence

Without a VPN
You can access the following services without a VPN:
- E-Mail: Exchange user can access their emails via the web interface https://xmail.mwn.de/ or configure their mail client as explained in E-Mail und Groupware
- Cloud-Storage (nas.ads.mwn.de) can be accessed via a web interface (link: Webdisk ). There you can upload and download your files. You may mount your drive via WebDAV as well, see Benutzerhandbuch Cloud-Storage
- Online access to e-journals, which need a personalized login (TUM: eAccess, LMU: eMedien), can be accessed directly.
Software for TUM Students
TUM has agreements with a number of different software providers.

Campus Maps and Roomfinder
Almost all regular ITBE courses are taught at the TUM main campus. Selected electives may take place at the Garching campus.

TUM Roomfinder
If you are looking for a specific room, you can use TUM's roomfinder NavigaTUM.
The room numbers at TUM have four digits:
- the first digit represents the floor,
- the second digit the building,
- the third and fourth digits denote the room number.
Building numbers on the north side are prefixed with an “N”.
