Info

The second factor of your login (whether via Microsoft or our own Keycloak) is usually linked to the specific device or app. We therefore generally recommend setting up more than one second factor – this way, if you change devices or lose access, you can simply restore the factor yourself and remove the old one.

Lost / Stolen Devices

In event of the loss or, in particular, theft of your second factor (i.e. usually your physical device), you should change your password immediately and, if you have set up alternative access methods, remove the affected device from your accounts. Employees should also inform their local IT department ( "DV-Betreuer" ).

Die Fälle:

I have an alternative login method available in my:

Microsoft Account (z.B. Hello for Business , KeePassXC, phone number etc.)

In this case, you can set up a new second factor yourself in both systems (Microsoft and Keycloak) and remove the old one:

Keycloak (Authenticator, Passkey etc.)

In this case, you can only set up a new two-factor authentication method in Keycloak. If you need access to Microsoft services or services that are only accessible via Microsoft login (such as BayernColab), you need to follow the steps under ‘I don't have an alternative login method set up' to get the two-factor authentication reset for your Microsoft account.

Students, CE- or Gueststudents

Please visit the students help desk 'ZEBRA' during opening hours with your (valid) ID or passport for requesting an account reset. From there you can simply follow our setup guide for the initial setup to enroll a new device - If you subsequently need to also reset the Keycloak factor, you can do this yourself using your updated Microsoft account.

If you are unable to contact us during our opening hours, please email us at service@rz.uni-augsburg.de. Please scan (or photograph) your ID (front and back) – and, if possible, your CampusCard for easier identification – and attach these to the E-mail.

Employees or internal / faculty guests

Please contact your local / faculty IT department ("DV-Betreuung") and request to reset the two-factor authentication. They will verify your identity and relay the reset request to the RZ ServiceDesk. From there you can simply follow our setup guide for the initial setup to enroll a new device - If you subsequently need to also reset the Keycloak factor, you can do this yourself using your updated Microsoft account.
