Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered assistant based on the large language models GPT‑4 and GPT‑5
The capabilities of Microsoft Copilot depend on the existing licensing. At the University of Augsburg, the campus-wide Microsoft Office A3 licensing makes the Microsoft Copilot Chat version available to all students and staff.
The following features are therefore available:
- Cross-platform chat assistant in the browser through text input (so‑called prompts)
- Use of the Microsoft Copilot app
- Use of basic agents
The following features are not licensed: Copilot Office add-ins or autonomous and advanced agent actions/workflows.
When using Copilot and AI in general, please make sure to follow the University of Augsburg’s AI user guidelines. In addition, a dedicated knowledge base on the topic of AI at the University of Augsburg is available.
