If you live in the district of Munich (Landkreis München), the Landratsamt München is responsible for your residence permit. Please make sure that you register your residency before you apply for a residence permit.

In order to apply for a Blue Card, search on the website (→ got to Ansprechpartner and search for the first letters of your surname) for the contact person responsible for you. You can then apply for an appointment (the page opens up once you select a contact). You can e-mail your application document directly to the caseworker and they will then inform you what else they need.

In our experience, the immigration office will always ask for these documents:

  1. completed and signed application form
  2. valid passport
  3. a recent biometric passport photograph
  4. university degree or diploma (a certified German translation and in some cases a formal acknowledgement might be needed)
  5. confirmation of employment (letter of confirmation from MDCO / copy of 1st page of the offer of appointment as scan)
  6. Form "Erklärung zum Beschäftigungsverhältnis" filled by the HR department of TUM
  7. registration certificate from the Citizen Office

During your appointment you'll have to register your fingerprintes and pay a fee of maximum 100 Euros and 13 Euros for the provisional permit. After the appointment your electronic Blue Card (eAt) will be produced. You need to collect the eAt from the immigration office. Please book an appointment in advance.
