If you live in the district of Munich (Landkreis München), the Landratsamt München is responsible for your residence permit as Immigration Office - Fachbereich Einreise und Aufenthalt. Please make sure that you register your residency before you apply for a residence permit.
In order to apply for a settlement permit (Niederlassungserlaubnis), search on the website (→ got to Ansprechpartner and search for the first letters of your surname) for the contact person responsible for you. You can then apply for an appointment (the page opens up once you select a contact). You can e-mail your application document directly to the caseworker and they will then inform you what else they need.
In our experience, these documents are always needed:
- completed and signed application form
- proof of health insurance (abroad) / offer of private health insurance / confirmation of application
- curriculum vitae
- copy of passport
- copy of visa and entry stamp
- registration certificate from the Citizen Office
- tenancy agreement (as proof how many persons live on how many sqm) or the form "Wohnraumbescheinigung zur Vorlage bei der Ausländerbehörde"
- university certificates
- confirmation of employment (letter of confirmation from MDCO / copy of 1st page of the offer of appointment as scan)
- Form "Erklärung zum Beschäftigungsverhältnis" to be filled by the HR department of TUM
During your appointment you'll have to register your fingerprintes and pay a fee of 147 Euros and 13 Euros for the provisional permit. After the appointment your electronic settlement permit (eAt) will be produced. You need to collect the eAt from the immigration office. Please book an appointment in advance.
