Konfiguration von Exchange-Clients
Exchange is a groupware product from Microsoft, which in addition to mail also includes calendars, address books and task management. The mailboxes should preferably be accessed via Microsoft Outlook or the web interface Outlook on the Web (xmail.mwn.de), as the groupware functionalities are best supported here. You don't need to create an account, just log in with your account and password. However, access with IMAP/POP clients or corresponding apps is also possible.
In order to successfully perform a configuration, you need your account with the corresponding password, as well as your e-mail address.
If you have any problems with your account and/or password, please contact the person responsible for you.
In all examples, a client is configured for the Exchange mailbox of Max Mustermann (Max.Mustermann@lrz.de) with the account di69soz.
You may also need the following information for the configuration:
Incoming mail server
Service | Server name | Encryption type | Port |
---|---|---|---|
Outlook Anywhere bzw. MAPI/HTTP | xmail.mwn.de | SSL | 443 |
IMAP | xmail.mwn.de | SSL | 993 |
POP | xmail.mwn.de | SSL | 995 |
Outlook Anywhere or MAPI/HTTP can only be configured automatically (Autodiscover) based on your email address and password.
Outgoing mail server
Service | Server name | Encryption type | Port |
---|---|---|---|
SMTP | postout.lrz.de | SSL/TLS | 465 |
SMTP | postout.lrz.de | StartTLS | 587 |
When using Outlook and Outlook on the Web, outgoing mail does not require manual configuration.
Note for administrators: All data traffic is done via port 443 (HTTPS) - this is the concept of "Outlook Anywhere" or "MAPI/HTTP". No further ports have to be enabled (no MAPI ports).
