DSS Release 2.6

General availability: TBD

Overview

Besides behind the scenes updates for housekeeping and bugfixing, this release of DSS brings some new features to the DSSWeb Self Service Portal. Every DSS user now has a MyDSS view in the portal which displays his or her DSS invitations and usage, additionally data curators and pool owners are now presented historical usage graphs for their containers and pools.

New Features

DSSWeb Self Service Portal:

  • DSS Containers can now be deleted via the DSSWeb UI
  • A new ID Streamlining Mode called PUBLIC_READ has been added which allows data curators to create containers where anyone has read access
  • Charts for displaying historical usage data and trending have been added for DSS containers and pools to the DSSWeb UI
  • A new section MyDSS was introduced in the DSSWeb UI, giving all DSS users an overview of their DSS invitations and usages

Bug Fixes

  • DSS Invitation UI now makes sure all usernames are lower case to avoid confusion in certain parts of the system
  • If an invitation in a container without any data curators left gets removed, this will not fail anymore but data will be now owned by root

Known Issues and Limitations

  • Restore of backed-up/archived data is currently only possible via a service request on the LRZ Servicedesk.
  • DSSWeb can only be accessed from within the Munich Scientific Network (MWN).
  • DSSWeb Webinterface may not work correctly when opened in multiple browser tabs.
  • After accepting an invitation or doing the first time Globus registration, it can take up to two hours until the user is enabled for the Globus platform.
  • After accepting an invitation, it can take up to an hour until the systems will reflect this change, when the container group is in name server cache.
  • Globus File Watch does not work anymore
