Navigating the childcare system in Munich can be challenging. What is a Krippe? How does a Tagesmutter differ from a Großtagespflege? When can my child transition to Kindergarten? What childcare options are there for primary school children? And most importantly, how do I register my child?
To answer these questions – and many more – the TUM Family Service organizes an online information event on Wednesday, 12.02.2025 from 12 to 13 pm.
This session offers an introduction to the childcare system in Munich, tailored for parents navigating childcare options for the first time, as well as international employees and students new to the German system. Following the presentation, we welcome your questions and an open exchange of experiences. The event will be held in English.

Dear Women* Scientists,
Have you ever thought about creatively wrapping your research work into just a few minutes to bring your science to the public in an accessible, fun, and non-intimidating way?
Then you are just the right person for this year’s Soapbox Science event in Munich 2025, and we are very excited to invite you to be a speaker!
Soapbox Science is a novel public outreach platform for promoting women* scientists and the science they do. Soapbox Science aims to inspire people to become science enthusiasts and to solidify the image of women* as scientists.

Dear collaborators,
We are pleased to inform you that 30 ITER Organization (IO) internship topics are advertised on the ITER website (https://www.iter.org/public/jobs/internships) until 28 February 2025. A further 25 will be published from 1st February until 31st March 2025 for the second wave of publication.
The ITER Organization offers internship opportunities to undergraduate and postgraduate students with the objective of providing these students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in their field of study, whilst collaborating in an international, scientific and multicultural environment. Internships are offered for up to six months, extendable for up to one year.
Over the past years, we have welcomed some of your students for an internship. Like in previous years, we are pleased to offer a broad range of internship topics related to Scientific, Engineering & Support functions for undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. students, whose applications must be submitted through the online e-recruiting system. Shortlisted students can expect to receive an email by early April and can also keep track of their applications’ statuses via the SuccessFactors job portal. Non successful candidates will receive a consolation letter from the internship team.
As IO aims to attract and retain people coming from a vast array of different backgrounds and cultures, bias and exclusion cannot be tolerated. IO believes it is our diverse perspectives and backgrounds that gives unique strength and value to the ITER mission, regardless of race, member nation, gender, religion, status, sexual orientation, or disability - all are welcome and respected at ITER.
For further information on the Internship Program, we invite you to visit our internship webpage, which is updated with the latest information. The ‘2025 Welcome Booklet for Interns’ will also provide you and your students with an in-depth understanding of the Program.
We kindly request your support in advertising these vacancies as widely as possible.
The Internship team (Internships@iter.org) remains at your disposal to answer any questions in regards to the ITER 2025 Internship Program.

On 03 February 2025 at 16:30, you are invited to the Hans Fischer Lecture Hall (Chemistry) to attend a lecture "Where do we come from? The origins of elements" presented by Dr. Paolo Padovani.
How did the Universe evolve from an unimaginably small, scorching hot state of "nothingness” to a cosmos where beings, composed primarily of oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen, can contemplate their own origins? The answer lies in a fascinating journey involving primordial nucleosynthesis, gravity, the birth and evolution of stars, nuclear fusion, supernovae, and neutron star mergers ...
| Short bio: Paolo Padovani has been a professional astronomer for 35 years. For the past 22 years, he has worked at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Garching bei München, following previous positions at the Space Telescope Science Institute in the USA and Rome. At ESO, he is involved with the Extremely Large Telescope, which is set to become the largest optical telescope in the world upon its completion (expected by the end of 2028). His research focuses on Active Galactic Nuclei (such as quasars and similar objects) across all wavelengths (from radio to gamma), high-energy astrophysics, and astrophysical neutrinos. He is passionate about astronomy outreach, actively engaging with the public and schools. For more details: http://www.eso.org/~ppadovan/. |
