Dear all,

Are you a FINTA* student or academic with a non-academic background at TUM looking for a mentor? Or do you want to support a FINTA* student or academic with a non-academic background as a mentor?

Then take your chance to become part of an exclusive support program at TUM!

With the Agnes Mackensen Program we strengthen the self-efficacy of female first-generation students and academics and promote their leadership skills and personal development.

Apply now and join the cohort 2025 as a mentee or support the program by signing up as a mentor before November 10, 2024. If you are a care leaver, you are also warmly welcome to join us!

The aim of the program is to counteract the lack of equal opportunities for women from non-academic backgrounds. Plus: don’t miss out on the chance to win a STEM Avanade scholarship of 1.800€!

*All FINTA bachelor’s and master’s students as well as PhD candidates and post-docs at TUM are welcome to apply as mentees, and thus women, intersex, non-binary, transgender and agender people.

TUM is looking for mentors of all genders (preferably but not necessarily) with a non-academic background across all academic target groups (master's and bachelor's students in higher semesters, doctoral candidates, postdocs, researchers, professors) as well as industry experts for mentoring.

If you know someone who might be interested in the program, don't hesitate to share the information.

We look forward to welcoming many of you to the new cohort of the program!

Kind regards,

TUM School of Natural Sciences succeeds when we all can take part: our School advocates for equal opportunity in every aspect of university life by making sanitary pads and tampons available free of charge. The project starts at the beginning of November 2024.

Free menstrual products allows students and staff to focus on their studies or work without having to worry about the availability of period products. The dispenser boxes are located outside restrooms in our Chemistry and Physics buildings.

For anyone who needs sanitary pads or tampons during their day, you can now find “Periodically” dispensers outside restrooms in the following locations:

The NAT School Student Council (Fachschaft) is taking the lead on keeping the dispensers topped up, so if you notice one is empty, just email fsnat@fs.tum.de. Kindly take only what you need for the day, so that the next person can also access the supplies.

For more information on period poverty and its link to equal opportunity, please read the report “Focus Topic: Menstruation” by Plan International (in English available as PDF).

If you would like to know more about this issue, the University of Hamburg’s site on their “Pilot Project: Tampon and Sanitary Pad Dispensers” extremely informative.
