Abstract
TerraQuest is an exciting exploration game that takes players into an unknown world where they take on the role of cartographers. Their mission is to explore the generated terrain, find resources, discover cities and find their way around this fascinating but dangerous world.
Project Description
Focus terrain generation - The terrain is generated using a constraint satisfaction problem, whereby an arc consistency algorithm ensures that no invalid areas can occur. The world is divided into a two-dimensional and a three-dimensional area. Routes can be planned, expeditions carried out and markers placed on the two-dimensional map, while resources must be collected and strategically deployed. At the beginning, the map is undiscovered and untouched, but it is gradually explored in the course of the expeditions. The goal is to uncover the entire map. To accomplish this, we use Unreal Engine 5 in conjunction with a custom algorithm to solve the constraint satisfaction problem.
