Abstract

When somebody learns a foreign language, one of the biggest problems a person can discover is transmitting the theoretical knowledge into practice. Using a language in real-life situations differs from practicing the language in safe environments such as classrooms. Additionally, it becomes extremely complicated with languages with completely different cultural backgrounds, for example, where hierarchical positions of interlocutors have hard influences on the usage of grammatical constructions, like in the Japanese language. To solve this problem, serious games provide various solutions. In this thesis, we examine several projects and describe a prototype, which was developed based on acquired data. In the end, we examine the prototype to understand in which directions the project can be expanded.
