Abstract

By borrowing inherited tools from software and games engineering and analyzing games, we build up a formal framework containing different tools, thought models, and vocabulary to aid the engineering process of bosses. This first approach to a formal framework will act as a stepping stone to a standard to ease the documentation and communication in the boss engineering process. Additionally, the provided elements of the framework aim to make development iterations more productive and reduce the overall design and development time. We will then test the model on existing bosses and use it to create a new boss showing its capabilities and revealing the immediate downsides. After the discussion and critical reflection, the framework proves useful in its current state.
