Abstract

This research studied the usage of Augmented Reality in assisting older adults with their Activities of Daily Living. The first use case investigated was implementing an Assistive Technology in the form of an AR mobile application for color recognition, to help senior patients with Color Vision Deficiency. Due to Covid regulations the application was tested by showing off the features in a pre-recorded video for prospective users, in addition to a survey to capture their feedback. Results showed a general positive response and suggested possible improvements, as well as more functionalities that could be introduced to the application. Future work has been considered on further developing the current application for improvements and to include a second use case of barrier-free routing for wheel-chair seated seniors using Augmented Reality.
