Abstract

Virtual Reality shopping simulations rise of interest for multiple different fields regarding research. Therefore, improvements of such simulations grow of interest as well, which are assumed to be achieved by increasing the users feeling of presence.\\ Therefore, the goal of this thesis is the implementation of aspects improving this feeling of such shopping simulation. To achieve this, a Lädel store was designed after the popular discounter Lidl. Additionally, a product creator was implemented to enable a designer to create and display familiar products to the user, which helps increasing presence even more. This product creator is currently limited to basic shapes, a cylinder and a box, to facilitate desigers to create all products of interest at least simplified, since most real product shapes relate to them. Furthermore, nutritional data is displayed on their back, by a nutrition table and the nutri-score, which can be positioned inside the creator. The respective data can be entered manually or automatically, by entering the products barcode. By this, the required information is fetched from Open Food Facts. Lastly, a texture editing tool was implemented to adjust product images and make them usable as a texture for their virtual counter parts. To evaluate the resemblence of the virtual and real store, and to get an impression of the users thoughts on other aspects regarding presence, an online survey was conducted.
