Abstract

Large scale emergency operations create complex planning and coordination challenges
to the deployed emergency operators. Interoperability and efficient communication
are key to resolve the situation effectively. This thesis proposes improvements to the
current procedures in emergency operations by utilizing a digital software combined
with Global Satellite Navigation Systems (GNSS) to communicate the locations of
deployed forces between all participating parties. Additionally, improvements on how
to comprehensibly display these forces to an end-user on a digital map are described.
Therefore, an algorithm on how to group these formations into clusters is created and
a timeline is used to display past states of the operation and plan future actions.
