Abstract

Japanese culture and products are getting more and more popular around the world, therefore the number of people interested in learning Japanese is increasing. But especially for people that start without any knowledge about Japanese kanji, learning the language can be tedious. To effectively learn kanji, they have to be reviewed many times over a longer period of time. The game Dragon Tale is a Serious Game for learning Japanese. As a useful extension to the current game, a turn-based battle system is suitable for providing an entertaining way to review Japanese kanji and words.
