§7, Abs. 4:
"1Bei einer Mediendissertation besteht die Dissertation aus einer Kombination einer schriftlichen wissenschaftlichen Arbeit mit einem anderen Medium, insbesondere einer dauerhaft dokumentierten gestalterischen Leistung (Mediendissertation). 2Ist ein Beschluss gemäß Abs. 1 Satz 2 erfolgt, so verabschiedet auf Vorschlag der promotionsführenden Einrichtung das Hochschulpräsidium hierzu Richtlinien, die den Umfang und die Gewichtung der schriftlichen Arbeit sowie Art, Anforderungen und Gewichtung der gestalterischen Leistung festlegen und sicherstellen, dass bei gemeinsam erstellten gestalterischen Leistungen der individuelle Beitrag der*des Promovierenden deutlich wird. 3Im Rahmen der Richtlinien wird sichergestellt, dass die gestalterische Leistung zitierfähig und federführend durch die*den Promovierende*n erstellt worden ist."

Regulations for the Award of Doctoral Degrees effective from October 1st, 2021
§7, Abs. 4:
"1In the case of a media dissertation, the dissertation must consist of a combination of a written scientific paper with another medium, in particular a durably documented creative work (media dissertation). 2If a decision has been made in accordance with Section (1) Sentence 2, the TUM Board of Management adopts guidelines based on the recommendation of the degree-awarding institution, which define the scope and weighting of the written work, as well as the type, requirements, and weighting of the creative work and ensure that the individual contribution of the doctoral candidate is made clear in the case of jointly produced creative works. 3The guidelines ensure that the creative work can be cited and has been produced by the doctoral candidate in a leading role."
Only the officially promulgated German version is legally valid.
