Zotero is the recommended reference manager for Fiduswriter - it comes with drag and drop functionality into Fiduswriter. Unlike its commercial competitors, Zotero https://www.zotero.org is a non-profit community project:

Zotero comes in two modes - as a desktop software that you need to install and a web only version:
- desktop application: Zotero software is installed on your desktop computer. Installation is needed to allow drag and drop of citations into Fiduswriter.
- web application: No installation needed; service is browser based; you can add the so-called connector to your browser with a single click;

All Zotero code is free and open-source, and hosted on GitHub https://github.com/zotero. Zotero provides plugin extensions (connectors) for Firefox, Chrome and Safari browsers. Zotero plugins are available for a number of commercial and free word processors including Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, and Google Docs. Zotero is cloud based which means the user can work on different computers, say in the office and at home on a laptop. The reference libary is hosted remotely in a database and it is this remote database that is updated from a client computer. Different hardware is synchronised with the remote, cloud based database:
