Abstract

The game industry has grown over the last few years. A fundamental element in almost every game is the level or the map. Whether it is a classic board game, a single-player, a multiplayer or even a serious game almost every genre has some sort of map or level. Most of these genre tends to design maps for a specific reason, however, multiplayer games, especially competitive ones have additional requirements. The most important requirement for those maps is that they are fair. In this thesis, a definition for fairness will be given, then multiple aspects of map design. These aspects are defined, in order to analyze them later on. Since the game of choice for this analysis is league of legends, these features will be mapped to league’s map. Lastly, the first iteration of a tool will be presented. this works in Unity and is based on a more simplified version of league’s map. The analysis of the map was approximated by a weighted graph. Various methods to be as precise as possible are mentioned and were implemented. The tool currently works only based on distances and most of the aspects were not implemented as of yet. Possible methods were given to analyze and compare some of these details.
