Abstract

Diversity and games are two topics that have gained incredible importance and impact on society over the last few decades. This thesis explores what diversity is and how it affects every part of a game. It also analyses the current state of games and developers in terms of diversity. Women are more present in games and as gamers than ever before, but their representation and inclusion still leaves a lot to be desired. Other aspects of diversity show similar results. It then looks at effective ways to improve diversity both in the game and for the development and testing teams, outlining various methods and tools. Finally, it describes how a software approach to diversity, equity and inclusion can help to build a diverse testing team.
