Abstract

This paper begins with an introduction of the general term "dementia" and what technical trends affected the growth of touchscreen application development for dementia patients. The research field presented a vast category of cognitive intervention (cognitive testing, cognitive training, and cognitive-motor rehabilitation) applications used in correlation with dementia needs. Multiple concepts that were seen as important features in dementia application development were integrated in five created games. Two studies that involved experienced caregivers were conducted in order to evaluate the game concepts. The resulted platform aims to train different cognitive abilities of the users but also ensure a pleasant and engaging experience.
