Abstract

Visual State Diagrams are a great tool to create complex systems, they allow the creation without having to dive into difficult to understand explanations and definitions and could lead the way for more average users to take part in the creation process. However design in the creation of the tools that assist the creation of state diagrams is not being paid enough attention in the existing tools. The goal of this thesis is to help future developers in creating interaction methods for Visual State Diagram editors by providing rough guidelines on what to take into consideration when creating them which was done by creating a visual state diagram editor and applying and then testing a few interaction methods in small scale user studies while working with a few design guidelines.
