1.1. Deutschlandticket for Students
The Deutschlandticket is a monthly subscription that automatically renews each month for the selected contract period (up to one semester), unless it is cancelled manually (possible until the 10th of each month).
=> Special student offer: For enrolled students, the Deutschlandticket is available at a reduced price of €38 per month instead of the regular €58.
Further information about the Deutschlandticket and student mobility is provided by TUM here.
With the Deutschlandticket, you can use all local and regional public transportation (ÖPNV) throughout Germany. This includes:
-
Buses
-
Subways (U-Bahn), suburban trains (S-Bahn), trams
-
Regional trains (RE, RB, IRE, S) in 2nd class
Not included are:
-
Long-distance trains (e.g., ICE, IC, EC)
-
Long-distance buses
This makes the ticket ideal for regional and city-wide mobility across Germany, but not for high-speed or long-distance travel.
In the following section, you will find a step-by-step guide on how to purchase the Deutschlandticket.

1.2. Using the MVGO App for Navigation
In addition to storing the Deutschlandticket, the MVGO App can also be used for navigation:
1. Routes can easily be searched by entering a starting point and a destination.
2. For more reliable results, it is recommended to specify the planned departure or arrival time.
3. Then, press the “Und Los” button. All available route options will be displayed — for example, the route from the airport to the student dormitory CVJM.
As an alternative to the MVGO App, the MVV App can also be used for navigation. The functionalities are very similar.
