1.1. Notice Boards on Campus
At many university buildings, local housing offers are posted on public notice boards. These can be a great way to find private rooms.
The following are just examples of known locations:
- Freising/Weihenstephan: Ground floor of the Mensa building, between the two staircases
- Garching: Next to the Mechanical Engineering student council (Fachschaft)
- Munich City Campus: Ground floor of the Mensa building
It’s a good idea to keep an eye out for such boards at your preferred study or living location. Student councils (Fachschaften) are usually familiar with the best places to look and can point you in the right direction.

Doctoral students can also post their own ad on https://portal.mytum.de/schwarzesbrett/wohnungssuche/, if they are looking for a room or apartment. This increases the chances of being contacted by private landlords or other students offering accommodation.

1.3. Facebook Groups and Pages for Housing Search in Munich
Facebook groups and pages can be a helpful supplement when looking for student housing – especially for short-term rentals, shared flats, or furnished rooms. Many international students use these groups to connect directly with landlords or current tenants.
