Project Description

Project description:

The FesTES project develops high-temperature thermal energy storage systems using solid–solid PCM for industrial applications. Depending on project progress by summer 2026, the student may work on advanced materials characterization (thermal/mechanical properties), developing improved methods for kinetic analysis, supporting and optimizing lab reactor tests, extending and refining MATLAB reactor models, simulating innovative application cases, and assessing their techno-economic performance for real-world industrial scenarios.

Working hours per week planned:

40

Prerequisites

Required study level minimum (at time of TUM PREP project start):

2 years of bachelor studies completed

Subject related:

Basic knowledge in thermodynamics and heat transfer, interest in energy systems and experimental or modelling work

Other:

Good communication skills, ability to work independently
