The Beihilfe (financial assistance to help cover medical expenses) shall only be granted upon written application by the Landesamt für Finanzen (LfF).
When you apply for Beihilfe for the first time, you must enclose a copy of the insurance certificate of your private health insurance. The insurance certificate must state the date on which the insurance started and the exact percentage of the allowance.
Please note that you have to fill in numbers 6 and 7 in the application form when you apply for the Beihilfe for your child for the first time. Also you must enclose the current valid health insurance certificate of your child. If there are changes to your assessment rate, please also submit your current health insurance certificate.

Application by post
The application form (with copies of supporting documents) can be submitted to the relevant Beihilfe office (Dienststelle Ansbach 2) of the Landesamt für Finanzen by post.

At the State Office of Finance, a continuous paperless application with document upload and electronic dispatch is possible via the web application BeihilfeOnline.
Applications can be submitted via the app "Beihilfe Freistaat Bayern" provided by the Free State of Bavaria.

Application deadline
Beihilfe is only granted if it is applied for within one year after the expenses have been incurred (e.g. purchase of a medicine) or invoiced (e.g. by a doctor or dentist). In the case of home care (flat-rate care allowance), the one-year period begins on the last day of the month in which the care was provided, and for accommodation and board costs on the occasion of a curative cure on the day the curative cure ends.
