You must register within two weeks of moving into Heilbronn.

The Bürgerämter (citizens' offices) in all districts and the Zentrale Bürgeramt (central citizens' office) in Heilbronn's town hall are generally responsible for registration. 

Foreign third-country nationals (non-EU) must register directly with the Foreigners Office in the following cases:

  • when moving in from abroad
  • if you have a temporary residence permit
  • if you are staying here with a fictitional certificate (Fiktionsbescheinigung), toleration, visa or permit or a residence permit that is no longer valid.



Steps - How to register your adress

  1. Book your appointment online at the so called Foreigners Office or the Citizen Office and choose "registration / change of adress / deregistration family" name according to your family name.
  2. Required documents for your personal appointment:
    1. Registration form
    2. Identity card or passport of all persons moving (if no identity card or passport has been issued for children, the birth certificate is required)
    3. Confirmation from the landlord (Normally, the landlord will give you a confirmation when you sign the contract. If not, you can ask him to fill in the form "Wohnungsgeberbestätigung")
