The exchange programme TUMexchange involves the study-related exchange with universities outside the EU in the regions: 1. North America, 2. Australia/New Zealand, 3. Latin America, 4. Japan, 5. Russia, 6. Africa and Israel, 7. South-East Asia. Exchanges are possible with universities in 25 countries. The program is coordinated by the TUM Global and Alumni Office.

The database contains all partner universities that have concluded a cooperation agreement with the TUM. Please restrict your search for the exchange programme to "TUMexchange" and subject areas "ED-Civil and Environmental Engineering" and "ED-Geology".

Die Doube Degree Programme bieten qualifizierten Studierenden die Möglichkeit, sowohl den Master of Science als auch den entsprechenden ausländischen Abschluss zu erlangen. Die Teilnehmer*innen absolvieren große Teile ihres Hauptstudiums im Ausland mit einer geringen Studienzeitverlängerung. Eine Anerkennung der im Ausland erbrachten Studien- und Prüfungsleistungen ist gewährleistet.

Double Degree Programme

This programme offers qualified students the opportunity to achieve both the Master of Science and also the corresponding foreign qualification. The participants complete the major part of their study programme abroad; the course lasts slightly longer than the conventional degree course. It is guaranteed that the study work and the examinations completed abroad will be recognised.

Das ATHENS-Programm bietet Studierenden und Promovierenden der TUM die Möglichkeit eines unkomplizierten Auslandsaufenthaltes an 24 Partneruniversitäten in Europa. Zweimal pro Jahr – Mitte März und Mitte November – finden einwöchige Intensivkurse zu Themen der Ingenieur- und Naturwissenschaften, Mathematik, Informatik, Politik- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften an einer der ATHENS-Partneruniversitäten statt.

The ATHENS Programme offers students and doctoral candidates of TUM the opportunity to stay abroad at 24 partner universities in Europe. Twice a year – in mid-March and mid-November – one-week intensive specialized courses on engineering, natural sciences, mathematics, computer science, political science, and economics take place at the same time at all ATHENS universities.

Summer Schools

Im Gegensatz zu den regulären Austauschprogrammen erfolgt der Austausch als Freemover individuell und ist nicht an vorhandene Partnerhochschulen gebunden. Diese Form richtet sich in erster Linie an Studierende, die an Hochschulen studieren möchten, welche nicht in das bestehende Austauschangebot involviert sind. Das Freemover-Programm ermöglicht viel Freiraum, erfordert aber auch Eigenverantwortung und -initiative, da die Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten von unserer Seite in diesem Fall begrenzt sind.

Stipendien für Auslandsaufenthalte

In contrast to the standard exchange programme, Freemover exchanges are more individual and not connected to existing partner universities. This programme primarily targets students who want to study at universities that are not involved in the existing exchange programme. The Freemover programme allows a lot of freedom but also demands self-responsibility and initiative because the support received from ourselves is limited in this case.

Swiss European Mobility Program

Die International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE), ist eine internationale, unpolitische und unabhängige Organisation zur Vermittlung von Praktikumsplätzen im Ausland.

Die IAESTE hat über 80 Mitgliedsländer und ist die weltweit größte internationale Austauschorganisation für Praktika. In Deutschland ist IAESTE dem DAAD zugeordnet und vermittelt jährlich bis zu 1000 bezahlte Praktika für Studierende in Deutschland.

Die Vermittlung dieser Praktika, die in der Regel zwischen 8 und 26 Wochen lang sind, erfolgt unentgeltlich von Studierenden für Studierende. Außerdem werden die Praktikantinnen und Praktikanten von den lokalen IAESTE-Gruppen im Gastland betreut. Dies schließt z.B. Zimmersuche, Behördengänge sowie Freizeitprogramm ein.

The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE), is an international, non-political and independent organisation for the arrangement of internships abroad.

IAESTE has over 80 member countries and is the world's largest international exchange organisation for internships. In Germany, IAESTE is affiliated to the DAAD and offers up to 1000 paid internships for students in Germany every year.

These internships, which are usually between 8 and 26 weeks long, are organized free of charge by students for students. Furthermore, the interns are supervised by the local IAESTE groups in the host country. This includes e.g. finding a room, dealing with the authorities as well as social activities.

EuroTeQ-Kurskatalog 2026: Jetzt bewerben!

Stipendien für Auslandsaufenthalte in Indien

Das BayIND vergibt jedes Jahr drei Stipendien des Bayerischen Ministerpräsidenten für einen studienbedingten Aufenthalt (Praktika, Studien- und Forschungsaufenthalte) in Karnataka (Indien).

Fördersumme: 2.500 EUR

In der Informationsveranstaltung für Studierende der TUM ED (CEE-GE-GD) am 22. Juli 2025 wurden alle Austauschprogramme der TUM vorgestellt und praktische Hinweise zur Bewerbung und Finanzierung eines Auslandsaufenthalts gegeben. Außerdem gab es spannende Kurzvorträge von Studierenden, die ein Auslandssemester mit TUMexchange in Chile und Malaysia verbracht haben.

GOstralia!-GOmerica! feiert das 25-jährige Bestehen!
Aus diesem Anlass vergibt GOstralia!-GOmerica! mehr als 25 notenunabhängige Stipendien. Diese decken entweder 100% oder 50% der Studiengebühren für ein Auslandssemester oder die kompletten Kosten des Wohnheims für ein Semester. Die Teilnahme ist ganz einfach: Bewerber:innen müssen in die Rolle ihres zukünftiges "Ichs" schlüpfen und in einem kurzen Video oder Statement aus der "fiktiven Retrospektive" erzählen, wie das Auslandssemester ihr Leben nachhaltig verändert und auf den Kopf gestellt hat. Stipendien für Sprachkurse in Mittel-, Ost- und Südosteuropa

Bulgarien, Kroatien, Serbien, die Slowakei, Slowenien, Tschechien und Ungarn bieten bayerischen Studierenden Stipendien für Sommersprachkurse an ihren Hochschulen an. Bewerben können sich alle Studierenden, die an einer bayerischen Hochschule immatrikuliert sind.

Die Stipendien umfassen in der Regel Kursgebühr, Unterkunft, Verpflegung sowie Exkursionen. Für die Reisekosten müssen die Geförderten selbst aufkommen.

Scholarships for language courses in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe

Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Hungary offer scholarships to Bavarian students for summer language courses at their universities. All students who are enrolled at a Bavarian university can apply.

The scholarships usually cover course fees, accommodation, meals and excursions. The scholarship recipients must pay for their own travel expenses.

Praktika und Projekte an der der TUM Forschungsstation in Kenia

Die TUM unterhält eine Forschungsstation in der Küstenstadt Malindi, Kenia, die bereits von vielen TUM-Mitgliedern genutzt wurde. Die Forschungsstation steht den Studierenden und Mitarbeitenden der TUM für Praktika oder individuelle Forschungsprojekte zur Verfügung. Es bestehen mehrere Partnerschaften mit verschiedenen lokalen Schulen, Universitäten und Organisationen, die in den Bereichen Gesundheit, Bildung, Naturschutz und Biodiversität arbeiten.

The scholarship amounts to 50% of the tuition fee for one of the following Master's programs: Aerospace Engineering, Green Electronics, Industrial Chemistry, Integrated Circuit Design, and Rail, Transport and Logistics.

Applicants must email TUM Asia Admissions Advisors (events(at)tum-asia.edu.sg) and include this e-flyer, which also provides more detailed information about the TUM Asia Scholarship, to receive a special code. With this code, they can fill out an online application on this website. In doing so, they must also submit an essay of no more than 500 words in which applicants justify why they should receive the TUM Asia Scholarship.

Applications are accepted annually between October 1 and March 31.
