LiCCA login node (licca-li-01) is also employed as a dedicated node for interactive (Debug) runs (not Slurm).

Dedicated (Login) node is not for intensive computing!
The key principle of a shared computing environment is that resources are shared among users and must be scheduled.
Important!
It is mandatory to schedule work by Submitting Jobs (Slurm Batch System) to the Slurm scheduler on LiCCA.
Acceptable use of dedicated (login) node include:
- lightweight file transfers,
- script and configuration file editing,
- job submission and monitoring,
- small runs for solely testing purpose (down-scaled computations),
- debug of small jobs in HPC environment (down-scaled test cases).
To minimize disruption and ensure a comfortable working environment for users, resource limits are enforced on login nodes, and processes started there will automatically be terminated if their resource usage (including CPU time, memory and run time) exceed those limits.
Another way to get an interactive session on a compute node is to use interactive environment of Slum (see Submitting Interactive Jobs).
There is also a dedicated Slurm queue epyc-test for the short (12 hours) testing jobs.
