Overview

The work for the LRZ Data Science Storage (DSS) and DSSWeb Self Service Portal version 1.5 was mainly dedicated to various minor improvements and bug fixes. 

New Features

DSS System Layer

• Improved backup performance for large files

DSSWeb Self Service Portal

• Storage Grant/Pool Management
  • System owners can now see for their storage grants, how much space a project has already allocated to containers and how much space is really occupied on the pool to get a throughout view on the utilisation of their system
• Container Management
  • Container Data Protection Policy can now be adjusted after container creation (within certain limits)
• Globus
  • Sharing of DSS container data via Globus Sharing now allows you to restrict access to certain paths within the container
  • Beta Preview: DSS container data can now be directly accessed within the Globus Web App using the Web Browser

Resolved Issues

• DSS Container creation rollout fails if number of files is too low
• DSS Container quota change rollout fails if number of files is lower than already allocated I-nodes for the container
• NFS exports can be created with expire dates in the past

Known Issues and Limitations

• Restore of backed-up/archived data is currently only possible via a service request on the LRZ Servicedesk.
• DSSWeb can only be accessed from within the Munich Scientific Network (MWN).
• DSSWeb Webinterface may not work correctly when opened in multiple browser tabs.
• After accepting an invitation or doing the first time Globus registration, it can take up to two hours until the user is enabled for the Globus platform.
