It is important to indicate this address on all outgoing mail (Ausgangspost) and add your name for easy tracking. You will find an address stamp in the post/printer room.
Your phone number is 089 35831 – extension _____________. Dial "0" before all 289-xxxxx numbers (TUM).
To use the fax, place your document face down. Dial “0” before the fax number. The fax machine will read the document and then set to dial. The fax was transmitted when you hear the tone. A report is issued.

Staff-ID
Staff members and long-term guests will receive an ORIGINS-Cluster-ID which is required to enter the IPP-campus. It is issued by the HR-department Building H1 (next to the gate), 1st floor, room 120/124/126 – Tel.: 3299-1412 personalabteilung@ipp.mpg.de. Please call to make an appointment and take an official ID with you, together with the temporary entry card with your name on it which you receive from the secretariat. Please remember to return your official ORIGINS-Cluster-ID to the secretariat when you leave the Cluster.
Office hours
The official opening hours of the Cluster building are Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
At 8:00 p.m. an IPP security guard will close the entrance doors and reopen them at 6:00 am. It is always possible to leave the building!
In case access to the building is required outside the official opening hours (i.e. on weekends) you will have to register at the IPP entrance gate and a government-issued ID has to be presented. If you leave the Cluster building after 8:00 p.m. you are required to check out at the IPP gate on the EXC/MIAPP building form.
Keys
Sonja Lutz-Lampertseder will hand out keys to the office room . Do not pass any keys around as you are personally responsible for the use of your key. If extra keys are needed, please ask Sonja Lutz-Lampertseder. Please remember to hand in your keys when you leave the Cluster.
Phone calls
Your telephone number is 089 35831 –your extension. For work-related calls, please dial 01 followed by the number required. For foreign calls you will be asked for a pin. Please enter 1759 followed by a #
Stationery
Sonja Lutz-Lampertseder will hand out office stationery.
Postal room/Printer
In the post/printer room there are two separate boxes for incoming mail (Eingangspost) and outgoing mail (Ausgangspost). Usually, mail is delivered and collected twice a day, around 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.. A mail box is provided for each scientist/group. Please check your box once or twice a day. Please put all mail for the Max-Planck institutes / ESO in the transparent out-box. ALL other mail goes into the folder in that box. Private mail (only with stamps) will be accepted. There is a yellow mail box of the German Postal Services at the bus stop close to the Chemistry Department in Lichtenbergstrasse (northern access road to the campus). You will also find a cash machine there.
Parking
Only employees of the MPIs and the Excellence Cluster are allowed to park on the IPP-campus. Therefore, please carry your IPP-campus ID with you at all times.
Coffee, Milk
Espresso and regular coffee are available from the coffee machine in the kitchen and will be charged at 50 cents per cup. Milk is in the fridge. Please tick the list next to the coffee machine. There will be a list with the debits displayed Sonja Lutz-Lampertseder will collect the coffee money. Please put all used cups and dishes in the dishwasher. You will find it in the cabinet below the coffee machine.
Please load and empty the dishwasher as there is no special service for it. The tabs can be found under the sink. Please keep the kitchen clean.

Step 1: PIN for campus.tum.de
- people who have a contract with TUM receive an initial PIN for login at https://campus.tum.de/ from their local User Account Manager (E18 people from Karin Frank, Cluster people from Michael Nies, E12 people from Ms Weichs/ Ms Zweckinger etc.)
- students of the TUM receive their campus.tum.de data at immatriculation
- people employed by LMU and guests of the ORIGINS Cluster please contact Sonja Lutz-Lampertseder, indicating your name, date of birth, private address, email address, your function at the TUM as well as the start and end of your guest status (this is maximum 6 months).
Step 2: initial login at campus.tum.de
- go to http://campus.tum.de and go to the login page, use your PIN and date of birth for login
- you can now define your future mytum-email address, e.g. max.mustermann@mytum.de by clicking the link Resources/E-mail Addresses
- take a note of your so-called LRZ-Kennung (e.g. gu23jih) (you will need this account for the NAS, network attached storage, at the LRZ as well as for certain vpn connections
setting up your mail account/exchange server @tum.de
a webmail interface is available at https://xmail.mwn.de - login with your LRZ account (e.g. gu23jih) and the password you defined at campus.tum.de, or setup a exchange account on your own computer: A brief manual is available at Exchange TUM. If you use Outlook you only have to click “Mail” in the system panel of Windows and choose “Microsoft Exchange Server, POP3, IMAP or HTTP” and state your tum.de email address (mustermann@tum.de), your name and password. Outlook uses a system called “auto discover”, if this fails see pages 28 to 35 in the pdf.

Personal storage
For a home directory which you can use as a webdisk at the LRZ please check http://intern.universe-cluster.de/wiki/index.php/Nas-filer. This webdisk service can also be accessed via https://webdisk.ads.mwn.de from any internet café all over the world. In Windows you can install this directory using the path \\nas.ads.mwn.de\<your account>. Please use ADS\<your account> as user name. For Mac and Linux please check the instructions at the wiki link given above.
LRZ accounts for the telephone and Linux Cluster at the LRZ
Our network and computing project with the Leibnitz Rechenzentrum (LRZ) is called kn2al. We will give you an account and a preset password which you can change at https://idportal.lrz-muenchen.de. These LRZ accounts are only necessary for your VoiP telephone (including an answering machine in the net, see https://www.voip.lrz.de) and in case you want to apply for supercomputing facilities at the LRZ.

WLAN access to the MWN
The LRZ (www.lrz.de) has about 1300 access points at the Munich universities. The unencrypted network with the SSID lrz can be used together with a vpn client software (http://www.lrz-muenchen/.de/services/netz/mobil/vpn/index.html) and your credentials max.mustermann@mytum.de and your password to connect to the internet. At the EXC eight access points are available. If you are interested to use your mytum credentials at other European universities which support the eduroam initiative, please take a look at http://www.lrz-muenchen.de/services/netz/mobil/eduroam/index.html.
