Short description of the FBX format

FBX (Filmbox) is a proprietary file format (.fbx) developed by Kaydara and owned by Autodesk since 2006. It is used to provide interoperability between digital content creation applications. FBX is also part of Autodesk Gameware, a series of video game middleware.

It provides sophisticated and rich 3D graphics and is very popular within 3D modeling and rendering software such as 3DS Max, Maya, MotionBuilder, Mudbox, and Unity.

The Role of FBX in SDDI

Currently, FBX files are not being used in the SSD project. Within the district  London QEOP, one of the partners CASA, UCL is majorly working with the FBX model of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park usable with Unity Game Engine.
