Your MINGA Matching
The match with your Mentee will be made based on the information you provide. That's why you should perceive this form as a way to tell us whom you would like to meet and what you would like to share with your Mentee. This registration matches Mentors with international students of the intake for winter semester 2024/2025. International students arrive usually between August and October 2024.
Commitment
You are expected to spend some time together, as much as your schedule allows it, especially at the beginning of the semester. We expect you to be available by email before and during the arrival time of your Mentee and at the start of the semester. You should approach your Mentee yourself and be active right after the matching in August 2024 (or respectively after a possible second matching, details TBA).
There might be some breaks in the communication (e.g. during examination period or travelling time) but make sure that both sides of the MINGA Mentoring Match know about it.
We expect you to get in touch with your Mentee via email as soon as possible once you are matched. Please let us know if you receive no response!
Slack Group
All event organization, communication and creation of interest groups for the MINGA Mentoring program will happen on Slack, a free app/web service. You will receive an invitation by email after you have been successfully matched. Please pay close attention to our Slack channels as we will announce news, events and important information only via Slack. If you decide to use Slack as an app on your phone, consider enabling notifications. You can find more information about it here: https://slack.com.
Senior Mentors
We are also looking for so-called Senior Mentors who will assume a responsible representative role. They will keep the Slack group active, make sure that Mentees receive assistance, help out where required and let us know of any issues. Secondly, we are inviting the group of Senior Mentors to plan MINGA Mentoring events for all current MINGA members or within a specific Slack interest group. We can provide some funding and support, so this is a great opportunity to get creative, meet new friends and organize something fun and exciting for our members. The amount of time everyone can and wants to invest in his or her activities as a senior mentor is left to everyone's individual decision. If you are interested, please indicate in the form below and we will add you to our group of experienced Senior Mentors.
Deadline
You can apply for being a MINGA Mentor in summer semester 2024 until Sunday, September 22, 2024 23:59 CET where you will be considered for the matching round! In the weeks thereafter, the matching will take place, and you will be notified by email about the matching results.
