Project Description

Project description:

Background
Objective and fast analysis of skin diseases is a challenge especially because of a plethora of different instruments, data acquisition devices (e.g., cameras) and human factors (e.g., interrater reliability). 3D total body photography is a new tool promising a faster, more objective acquisition of skin data.

Objective and Methods
In our project, we therefore want to apply this new technology together with state-of-the-art swarm artificial intelligence technology to the diagnosis and scoring of inflammatory skin diseases.

Current state
Currently, we are working on a prototype for the automated scoring of vitiligo, but plan to extend the algorithms to other diseases including psoriasis and atopic eczema.

Where we need help
We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in medical data analysis and artificial intelligence, who would help us with gathering, sorting, annotating 3D total body photography data and training and validating the algorithm. Programming skills are helpful, but not required.

Working hours per week planned:

40

Prerequisites

Required study level minimum (at time of TUM PREP project start):

3 years of bachelor studies completed

Subject related:

Strong interest in and preferably basic knowledge of data analysis and manipulation. Programming skills are helpful, but not required.
