Project Description

Project description:

PERISCOPE, with 31 partners across 16 European countries, is the largest EU-funded social science project on COVID-19 and its consequences. Our multi- and interdisciplinary team at the Munich School of Politics and Public Policy at TUM examines individual-level behavioral responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. With funding from PERISCOPE and with some of the project partners, we have conducted a variety of representative surveys in several European countries between 2020 and 2023. The TUM PREP students will work with the TUM PERSICOPE research team on conducting background research and managing and analyzing the data from these surveys (writing up the results for possible publication) to examine research questions such as:
(1) How do economic preferences such as altruism, risk aversion and patience impact vaccine willingness/hesitancy?
(2) How does citizens’ satisfaction with government policies to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic impact their voting behavior?
(3) How does engagement with political discussions on social media impact trust in government during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Working hours per week planned:

30
