Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives drastically and requires new approaches to effectively impart knowledge during the times of social distancing. This paper presents a literature review to investigate how the current state of teaching at universities can be improved by incorporating video-game-related concepts to boost socialising of students, gain direct feedback in online lectures and increase attention and participation during classes. Furthermore,we postulate how these new features can be adapted for hybrid teaching to modernise education by jumping on the bandwagon of digitisation.
