Welcome to the TUM School of Engineering and Design buddy program for international students!
At TUM, we understand that transitioning to a new country and university can be challenging. We have therefore designed our TUM ED international buddy program to make your journey smoother by connecting you with a supportive community and providing you with a local buddy who will help you navigate life at TUM and in Munich.
At the beginning of each semester, international students are paired with a buddy. This program is a great way to receive support, make new friends and exchange with other internationals.
Who can join?
A buddy is a regular TUM student, usually from a higher semester.
An Incoming Exchange Student is an international student coming to TUM on exchange, typically for a semester or two.
An Incoming Regular Student is an international student who starts his/her degree at TUM and is staying for the whole duration of his/her studies.
Why join the buddy program?
As an international student:
- Smooth transition: Get help with settling in, from understanding the campus layout to navigating Munich.
- Cultural exchange: Learn about German culture while sharing your own cultural background.
- Fun events: Our international team along with the ED school councils organize events throughout the semester where all buddies and internationals are invited
- Friendship: Meet like-minded people and make international connections
- Improving your German skills.
As a Buddy:
- Improving language skills
- Certificate of participation (useful for applications for a semester abroad)
