Project Description

Project description:

Our research investigates bee-plant interactions as well as bee health and performance in different habitats and along biodiversity gradients.
Student tasks can comprise field- and/or lab work.

Fieldwork tasks:
- detection and sampling of bees in grasslands
- sampling of reed-nesting bees
- collection of flowers for pollen extraction

Lab tasks:
- processing of bees, i.e. weighing bees and dissecting legs for barcoding analysis
- dissection of bee nesting reeds (of trap nesting bee species) and sampling of pollen from brood cells for further analysis
- pollen extraction
- chemical analyses (chromatography: GCMS, IEC)

Also:
- statistical analyses
- use of chemstation software to analyze chemistry data

Working hours per week planned:

40
