Project Description

Project description:

B-cell responses are essential for humoral immunity against pathogens because they lead to the generation of antibody-secreting cells that produce large amounts of antigen-specific antibodies. These cells also have the potential to become quiescent and long-lived, which is fundamental for immunological memory against pathogens. B-cell responses are also key mediators of diseases, such as allergies, antibody-mediated autoimmunity, and malignancies.
Our Group at the Institute of Allergy Research/ZAUM at Helmholtz Munich focuses on studying the processes of B lymphocyte activation and differentiation into effector B cells, such as antibody-secreting cells and memory B cells. We seek a highly motivated summer student to join our research team for an internship.
The lab previously established an in vivo model system for pooled single-guide RNA (sgRNA) CRISPR/Cas9 screening, identifying several novel regulators of B cell-mediated responses. The student’s project will explore the function and underlying molecular mechanisms of some newly identified regulators using novel experimental approaches and in vitro and in vivo mouse models.
