Our TUM Sustainability Day will take place on June 12, 2024, to which the entire TUM community and TUM partners are invited. This day will have the character of a festival with a sustainability fair (80 + contributions) and several interactive sessions that inform, inspire, and excite all participants about sustainability. On this day, we want to celebrate the many ideas and the people committed to sustainability. With this in mind, we would like to highlight the many valuable contributions of our doctoral researchers in the field of sustainability and present them as part of the TUM Sustainability Day.

Therefore, we would like to invite all doctoral researchers working on sustainability as part of their doctoral project to submit a contribution to our Call for Abstracts (sign-up below). The 17 global sustainability goals[1], which were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda, form the content framework. Further information on the content of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals can be found on the United Nations website[2] .

Who can submit an abstract?

All doctoral researchers who were or are members of the TUM Graduate School in the past year, 2023, or this year, 2024, can participate in this call. The dissertations do not have to be fully completed. The prerequisite is that the content deals with sustainability topics that can be assigned to one or more of the 17 SDGs.

The submission deadline for abstracts is April 12, 2024.

Selection process

Together with members of the TUM Sustainability Board, the best abstracts will be selected. The respective authors of the abstracts are then invited to

  • Submit a poster (template will be provided), which will be displayed during the Sustainability Day and published in mediaTUM, featured through the TUM Sustainability Website.
  • present their research in a science slam (optional).

Why should you participate?

  • You will be among the first candidates related to sustainability@TUM, featured through the TUM Sustainability Website.
  • You can present your research with a science slam to a broad audience, including the entire TUM community and external partners.

Thus, by submitting your abstract, you can add to the visibility of your research beyond your scientific community, and you will have the opportunity to extend your network during the Sustainability Day.

In case of any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at sustainability@tum.de or veronica.becker@tum.de.

We look forward to your contributions and your participation in the Sustainability Festival 2024!

Best regards,

Your Vice President Sustainable Transformation Werner Lang
