Welcome to the mentor registration form for the MINGA Mentoring Program (TUM CIT Informatics), the Buddy Program (TUM CIT Mathematics) and the Mix Mentoring Program (TUM CIT Electrical and Computer Engineering)!

This form is used for registering as a mentor for students in one of the above-mentioned programs. Depending on your field of study, you will be matched accordingly within the appropriate program.

All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required. Additional information can be entered at the end of the form.
An email confirming your registration will be sent to your email address.

Your Tasks as a Mentor

By signing up as a mentor, you agree to voluntarily assist your assigned mentee(s) during their stay. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting them in administrative matters, study-related questions, course selection, searching for accommodation, adaptation to life in Munich, and further questions.

Win-Win Situation - International Preparation and Intercultural Learning

Mentors will not only help international students with practical matters such as registering for courses but they can also show them the beautiful beer gardens in Munich, take them to a sports match, or accompany them on a scenic hike. A mentor’s function is not to serve as full-time support, but to ease the international student's transition to life at TUM and to provide advice and assistance during the semester if necessary. The advantages for mentors are obvious: You can extend your international network, polish up your foreign language skills and gain intercultural competences. A mentorship can be a good preparation for a later stay abroad.

Get-Togethers

As part of the Mentoring Programs, we organize one get-together each month. These events can take place at various locations such as the famous Englischer Garten, student pubs or – during winter – at a Christmas market.
These gatherings offer you the opportunity to meet other participants of your program. Information about Get-Togethers will be sent via email. After a successful application or registration, mentees and mentors will receive further information via email.
If you have been successfully matched for the new semester but have not received any information after the semester has started, please contact us (see contact details below).

Your Matching

The match with your mentee will be made based on the information you provide. Therefore, you should perceive this form as a way to tell us whom you would like to meet and what you would like to share with your mentee. This registration matches mentors with international (exchange) students of the summer semester 2026 intake. International (exchange) students arrive usually between mid-March and April. Even if you are not (yet) in Munich at that time, please make sure to already establish email contact.

Commitment

You are expected to spend some time together (in-person), as much as your schedule allows it, especially at the beginning of the semester. We expect you to be available by email before and during the arrival time of your mentee and at the start of the semester. You should approach your mentee yourself and be active immediately after the matching in early/mid March 2026.
There might be some breaks in the communication (e.g. during examination period or traveling time) but make sure that both sides of the Mentoring Match know about it.

We expect you to get in touch with your mentee via email as soon as possible once you are matched. Please let us know if you receive no response.

Application Deadline

The application deadline for becoming a Mentor in summer semester 2026 is February 23, 2026.
