Exploring E-Textiles & AI

This workshop is held at the TUMLab at the Deutsches Museum (Museumsinsel 1, 80538 München)

Please contact harper.staples@tum.de with any questions.

This interactive workshop invites young people to explore the exciting intersection of textile crafting, electronic circuits and AI. In a fun and supportive environment, participants will:

• Learn about and apply some fundamentals of electronic circuits and textile design.

• Enhance problem-solving and creative skills.

• Experiment with AI as a tool for creativity, inspiration and expression.

Together, we’ll design a collective ‘light-up’ quilt to celebrate the themes of belonging and diversity. Each participant will create a felt textile square, incorporating simple circuits and light effects within the fabric to tell a personal story. They will be guided as to how to use AI as a support to design, create and troubleshoot. These individual pieces will then be joined into a collaborative quilt that reflects the group’s shared creativity and ideas about these themes. No prior experience is required.

This workshop will be led by facilitators from the Technische Universität München's LS Design team and the TUMlab.

The workshop will be held in English, with German support.

The workshop is part of the CLiViE project (https://www.clivieproject.eu/) at the Technical University of Munich.
