Welcome to the TUM Freezer Challenge 2026!

Laboratory freezers play an important role in scientific research and teaching.
But did you know that one ultra-low temperature freezer consumes about as much energy per year as a four-person household?

Together, we will make ultra-low temperature freezers in TUM laboratories more efficient – for climate-conscious research and teaching!

All labs with ultra-low temperature freezers (ULTs)

How does it work?

Register as a team using our registration form and implement sustainable measures

When does it start?

The campaign period runs from 29 April 2026 to 30 October 2026
