When is an ethics vote required?
An ethics vote is required if research on humans, identifiable human material or identifiable data, animals, or the environment is planned. This means that the ethical review is carried out primarily concerning the planned methodological implementation and the impact assessment, particularly for humans, nature, and the environment.
Who should I contact and why?
You must contact the non-medical expert group of the TUM Ethics Committee. The non-medical expert group examines the research projects primarily in terms of methodology and possible consequences of the project for humans, animals, and the environment. In particular, it assesses the plan of the scientific project and other information to be attached to the application. It is the only contact point to issue an ethics vote for non-medical research projects.
When and how must the application be submitted?
Applications can only be submitted before the start of scientific projects. The application must be submitted in full in electronic form to the office of the non-medical specialist group. Further information and the application can be found here.
