Trainer: Anne Wiebelitz-Saillard
Max. 14 participants
About the workshop:
If we look etymologically at the word „responsibility“, we find in it „the ability to respond“. In our daily work we often more react than response due to the lack of time and resources.
So how to break that pattern and how do we find effective responses? Which role does science play in that search? And what does it do with us as scientists to carry this responsibility on our shoulders?
To find answers or to walk with these questions we will step out in this workshop into unknown lands. Or, as the quote of Albert Einstein „You can not solve problems with the same thinking we used when we created them“ illustrates, into new perceptions. We are going to explore what that other „thinking“ may look like in practice: maybe a more holistic perception of the world?
During a time by your own in a nearby natural space you will explore the concept of response-ability in an experimental way: the ability to respond (and listen) to nature and the world around us. How is our analysis of the problems and possible solutions changed or influenced, if we unintentional but consciously walk and explore the world outside our office/lab?
Afterwards we will exchange about the experiences and perspectives from outdoors and try to explore links with the challenges you face regarding response-ability in your work as a scientist.
You are interested but still find this a little weird?! Please consider that Einstein went regularly to spend undesigned time in a woodland near his office...
Please note: In the workshop you will be for a time outdoors with a quest in a nearby park or forest (or other natural environment where you can stroll around also besides the pathways). Please therefore make sure you are reachable in max. 15 mins from such a natural space.
