Call for applications 2025: Water and Food for Healthy and Resilient Societies
Water and Food for Healthy and Resilient Societies provides early career scientists at TUM, Imperial and PoliMi working in one or more of the area of water and food for healthy and resilient societies the opportunity to meet each other across disciplines. They can form international research connections, and get to participate in a series of online and in-person training sessions, focused on both individual career development and collaborative research skills (e.g. understanding EU research funding and policy landscapes). The programme also aims to help researchers develop interdisciplinary project teams and develop proposals for further research collaboration.
Applicants who are within 2-7 years of experience since completion of PhD, from engineering, natural sciences, medicine and/or business, who are working on topics that fit into the larger theme of water and food for healthy and resilient societies are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility
Applicants should be within 2-7 years of experience since completion of PhD. These periods exclude any career break, for example due to:
- family care
- maternity or paternity leave
- health reasons
- reasons related to COVID-19 such as home schooling or increased teaching load
Programme and timeline
The programme takes place from February to December 2025. Participants must commit to attending all of the following online and in-person mandatory sessions, which are:
- 27 February; 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (CET) – Online introduction
- 5 March; 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. (CET) – Virtual storytelling workshop
- 19 - 21 March – In-person kick-off in London – Networking and finding collaborators
- 11 April - 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (CET) – Check in and idea refinement session
- 4 June - 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (CET) – Funding session
- 17 - 19 June – In-person retreat in Milano – Project Development
- Week of the 22 of September (date TBC) – Project development session
- 12 - 14 November – In-person closing session in Munich
